Our business is a family-owned home service business with an emphasis on residential and commercial window cleaning. We also provide gutter/gutter guard installation and dryer vent cleaning.
Why did you chose this profession?
I chose this profession because it was a fun way to provide for my family while leaving room to continue pursuing my passion as an artist and musician.
What drives you to do what you do? What motivates you?
I am motivated by loving my family well and contributing valuable services to our community.
What has surprised you most about the being a in the home services industry?
Owning a business comes with many surprising twists and turns especially over the past few years. But one thing that has surprised me most is seeing how something as simple as a clear window can boost your outlook on life and give you a more positive perspective.
How did you get started in this business? What was it like when you first started?
When I first started, we were washing windows by hand with spritzer bottles and bath towels. We have come a long way since then and have learned to use modern cleaning methods and more efficient ways of doing the job well.
Would you recommend this profession (or being a trade) to a young person?
I think this profession is a great entryway for a young person to enter into the professional world. It teaches you to serve others. It teaches you the joy of getting a return on your time and investments. It doesn’t require an eight year degree to do it, just integrity, commitment and grit.
What is something most people don’t know about your business?
Most people don’t know that we work year-round, even in the winter months when you may not be thinking about cleaning windows.
What would your customers say they love most about your product or service?
I think our customers would say they love the relational aspect of our business. We don’t do a lot of advertising. We mostly focus on building relationships and doing a great job.
What are some odd requests you've had from clients?
We sometimes get out of the norm requests to clean glass items from wine glasses to car windows and curio cabinet figurines.
How do you motivate and encourage your staff?
We treat everyone like a valuable team player who brings unique value to the business.
What are your goals over the next year?
To build more significant relationships with repeat clients we can serve on an annual basis.
What’s the most memorable experience you’ve had working with a customer?
We have had some funny experiences over the years. One that comes to mind is the one time we opened a window and the homeowner’s cat jumped onto the roof. We spent the next hour chasing the cat and getting it safely back inside. (We accomplished that goal.)
What is something most people don't know about you?
I am also a certified Storybrand Marketing Guide for businesses and individual brands. I help artists and entrepreneurs clarify their language for their websites and marketing materials. This business is called Brightbell Creative.
Why do you think it's important for people to shop local?
I think it is important to shop local because it builds the local economy and builds relationships. It creates culture.
